Somerville Baseball Inc.'s travel softball program is a competitive experience for players that want to take their game to the next level. Playing travel softball is a commitment not only by the players and coaches, but also their families. Participating in travel softball requires a larger commitment of time and money than a rec season. Players are expected to attend all practices and games as continuity becomes part of the teams' growth. Players selected for a Somerville travel team must participate in the SBI spring rec league as well. Players may play for any town rec team that participates in the SBI league.

Tryouts for the 2026 SBI travel softball teams will take place in September/October of 2025. While there is no fee to try out, if selected for a team, a non-refundable deposit will be required to secure your players roster spot. By accepting a roster spot, you and your player are committing to the full 2026 travel season. No refunds will be available.

The 2026 travel season will consist of Sunday league play in the spring, and league and/or tournament play in the summer. The spring/summer travel ball season typically continues through July.

Participants should expect to a total of approximately $700-$800 in fees depending on age group. There will be an initial $200 non-refundable deposit due upon roster acceptance. The remaining balance will be due some time after the new year. Registration will show $400, these fees will include all play (leagues/tournaments), insurance, and equipment provided by SBI. Additional separate payments should be expected for mandatory uniform purchases (Approx. $120-$150) and winter training (approx. $120). All players will be expected to participate in all team activities.
